i.e. VS e.g.

ตัวย่อหนึ่งที่มักพบบ่อยในบทความวิชาการ คือ i.e. และ e.g.

i.e.

ย่อมาจาก "id est" ในภาษาลาติน
แปลว่า นั่นคือ (that is)  ใช้เมื่อต้องการอธิบายคำที่อยู่ข้างหน้า

ตัวอย่างเช่น
I got his letter in July, i.e., six months ago.

คำที่ใช้แทน i.e. ได้ เช่น "in other words"

e.g.

ย่อมาจาก "exampli gratia" ในภาษาลาติน
แปลว่า ตัวอย่างเช่น (for the sake of example)

ตัวอย่างเช่น
Some people love outdoor activities, e.g., sightseeing.

คำที่ใช้แทน e.g.ได้ เช่น "for example"
